Locked authoring and synchronization reliability update

Rifle Pose With A Mantle Correction

Correct a mantle source animation without changing the reusable Rifle State or modifying the mantle Animation Sequence.

Pose Overlay 1.0.2 UE5.8

Scenario

Your Rifle State works over normal locomotion, but a mantle animation needs different elbow, shoulder, or hand placement. This is an Animation Override problem because the correction is specific to one reported source.

Keep The Parent Intact

Do not rewrite the Rifle State for mantle and do not duplicate the complete Rifle pose into a new child. The parent remains the reusable intent.

Create The Override

  1. Select the Rifle State or the Context that should own the mantle correction.
  2. Add an Animation Override named for the mantle behavior.
  3. Add the affected mantle Animation Sequence to Source Animations.
  4. Use that sequence as the primary authoring timeline.
  5. Scrub to the first frame that needs correction.
  6. Author only the local mantle-specific difference.
  7. Add timed keys where the correction changes through the mantle.

Audition Fallback

Test the bound mantle source and then an unbound locomotion source. The mantle should use the local correction; the unbound source should fall back to the Rifle State.

Add Runtime Source Reporting

Insert the reporter that owns the mantle source path. For a montage-driven mantle, use Pose Overlay Montage Source after the correct slot. For a normal Sequence Player, use the corresponding Sequence Player reporter.

Synchronize And Verify

  1. Synchronize and save the Set.
  2. Run PIE with Rifle active.
  3. Play the mantle and confirm the Override resolves.
  4. Exit the mantle and confirm the reusable Rifle State remains without a flash to source.

Why This Matters

The reusable weapon intent stays in one place, while only the exceptional source animation owns the exceptional correction.
