Locked authoring and synchronization reliability update

Neutral Pose Library

Choose and maintain the baselines used to calculate reusable State and Context differences.

Pose Overlay 1.0.2 UE5.8

What A Neutral Is

A Neutral is a baseline, not a runtime condition. Pose Overlay evaluates authored changes relative to the resolved Neutral for the selected branch.

Neutral Sources

  • Skeleton Reference: target Skeleton reference pose.
  • Animation Frame: one frame from a compatible Animation Sequence.
  • Captured Pose: a pose captured through the authoring workflow.

When To Change The Neutral

Use a different Neutral when the source family starts from a materially different baseline and authoring a correction against the inherited Neutral would create unnecessary offsets. Crouching versus standing is a common example.

Library Operations

Rename, duplicate, capture, assign, and delete Neutrals from the library. Dependency information helps identify States and Contexts that currently resolve each Neutral.

Deletion Safety

The final Neutral cannot be deleted. A Neutral with dependants must be replaced or reassigned explicitly so the authoring hierarchy cannot silently lose its baseline.

Editing A Neutral

Neutral manipulation replaces the captured baseline. It is not a keyed runtime State and does not use Auto Key semantics.
