Why Reporting Is Explicit
A downstream pose node cannot reliably discover the active asset and time through state machines, cached poses, linked layers, BlendStacks, or montage slots. Pose Overlay therefore uses pass-through source reporters.
Reporters Do Not Modify The Pose
A reporter forwards its Source Pose and publishes source identity, time, relevance, priority, continuity, and channel information for the Stack.
Choose The Reporter That Owns The Source
- Animation Source: explicitly supplied animation and time.
- Sequence Player Source: a standard Sequence Player node reference.
- BlendStack Source: active BlendStack/Motion Matching sample information.
- Montage Source: supported Animation Sequence segments in one montage slot.
Priority, Relevance, And Hysteresis
The Stack selects the dominant candidate using configured priority and relevance. Hysteresis and source-loss grace keep near-equal or short-lived reporter changes from producing unstable Animation Override selection.
When You Do Not Need Reporting
If no active branch contains an Animation Override that depends on source identity, ordinary States and Contexts can run without a reporter.
