Goal
Create one Rifle State that remains recognizable over idle, walk, run, and turns without copying locomotion animations.
Author The Intent
- Create Rifle with a tag such as
PoseOverlay.State.Rifle. - Choose a representative idle source.
- Author hands, arms, shoulders, and upper spine as needed.
- Key only the controls that belong to the rifle-holding intent.
Audition Locomotion
Preview idle, walk, run, and turns. If the weapon pose becomes too loose, use Bone Influence instead of copying each locomotion pose into the State.
Refine Composition
- Establish a stable endpoint by locking the necessary branch to the authored pose.
- Restore Source Motion gradually on parent bones that should breathe with locomotion.
- Soften transition bones with Overlay Weight when needed.
- Use Space Blend only when local parent rotation still produces an unstable orientation.
Escalate Only When Necessary
If crouching changes the semantic requirement, add a Context. If one mantle or reload source needs a specific correction, add an Animation Override. Keep the base Rifle State reusable.
